Kobelco Phase 3 – Fabrication Plant #2

Kobelco’s phase 3 addition consisted of adding onto the first fabrication plant. The original building was designed to except 3 total additions, with the roof slope continuing up for the first expansion. This made of challenging tie in with over 400 feet of decking to transition and keep the existing facility dried in, which was done successfully. This building is a clear span structure with an Aging Oven foundation. Process electrical and process gases had to be extended into the new space. two new trucks docks were added to this site. Upon completed he construction the common wall between the two plants had to be removed while the first building was active and maintain a safe dust free environment.
